Yellowikis:Neutral point of view
From Yellowikis: Open Business Listings
Yellowikis Neutral point of view (NPOV) official policy is derived from Wikipedia's official policy of the same name. All articles, categories, templates, and images must have be written from a neutral point of view. This is a fundamental and non-negotiable policy of the project, adopted by the founders Paul Youlten and Rosa Blaus.
The NPOV policy is a content policy, and, in conjunction with Yellowikis' mission to be a business directory, governs what Yellowikis listings contain and what is acceptable at Yellowikis. The principles upon which these policies are based are non-negotiable and cannot be superseded by other policies or guidelines, or by editors' consensus. Their policy pages may be edited only to improve the application and explanation of the principles.
[edit] What the NPOV policy means to Yellowikis specifically
Whilst the Wikipedia policy explains the NPOV policy in the general case, there are a few areas where it has specific meaning to Yellowikis.
- Yellowikis makes no endorsements.
- Yellowikis articles must not either endorse nor denigrate any business. The purpose of Yellowikis is to be a business directory, to allow its readers to locate businesses that may provide the goods or services that they are searching for. Yellowikis does not endorse any business over its competitors.
- Yellowikis is not a forum for people to publish their personal opinions of businesses.
- Whilst Yellowikis articles may report the opinions of others, published outside of Yellowikis (such as including a "star rating" published by a well-known travel organization), it is not a platform for reporting the opinions of Yellowikis editors themselves. If an opinion cannot be fully attributed to a specific named person or organization publishing their opinion outside of Yellowikis, it must not be included.
In addition, article talk pages are not for discussing the business listed. They are for discussing the Yellowikis article about the business — how it can be improved, and factual errors or omissions.
